Mark Twain [Book]

When the Civil War interrupted the young Mark Twain’s career navigating the Mississippi River, he went west to the Nevada Territory and accepted a job at a local newspaper. What followed was a shameless search for fame and fortune as well as a series of extraordinary contributions to American literature, including The Adventures of Tom Sawyer (1876), The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn (1884), and Life on the Mississippi (1883). Acclaimed biographer Ron Chernow traces Twain’s dynamic journey toward becoming “the largest literary personality that America has produced.”
