K–12 Educators registered for our free Affiliate School Program receive full site access encompassing all subscriptions described below. Sign-up is easy and quick and includes access to other discounts and programs.


JournalHistory Now Subscription

History Now is the online journal of the Gilder Lehrman Institute. A one-year $25 subscription includes

  • Access to the four new issues published annually featuring original essays by renowned historians on key topics and eras in American history.
  • Subscriptions also include full access to the backlist of History Now, featuring hundreds of essays by leading US history scholars.

A one-year $25 subscription provides access to the searchable online catalog of the Gilder Lehrman Collection and related history resources, including

  • Immediate access to over 7000 high-resolution viewable images of selections from the Institute’s catalog

A one-year $25 subscription to Book Breaks includes full access to the weekly live program and our ever-expanding Book Breaks archive, featuring more than eighty sessions with the nation’s leading historians.

Book Breaks, held each Sunday at 2 p.m. ET, features renowned historians discussing their latest works. The program takes place live on Zoom and features a discussion of the book followed by a Q&A with the at-home audience. Our guests have included David Blight, Eric Foner, Annette Gordon-Reed, Peniel Joseph, Elizabeth Varon, and more.

This program is free for all K–12 students, and college undergraduates can opt in for free.
